Would you say a Henson Al13 ++ is a more efficient / better razor than a Razorock GC .76
Would you say a Henson Al13 ++ is a more efficient / better razor than a Razorock GC .76
It helps a lot, to be honest I have the GC 76 but started to wonder if I should have purchased the Henson. No I would not say it is better. It is different.
Henson ++ features
Much lighter (aluminum)
Less durable (aluminum)
Slightly lower blade feel
Slightly lower efficiency
Only one set angle (cannot play with the angle for comfort as much but simpler to use)
A bit more comfortable against the grain if you are sensitive to blade feel
Razorock GC 76 features
Heavier (316L marine grade stainless steel)
More durable (stainless steel)
Slightly more blade feel
Slightly more efficient
Variety of angles can be used (can play with the angle going shallow for comfort ATG)
A bit less comfortable against the grain. This is less of a problem if you have good technique and know how to maintain a shallow angle riding the cap ATG but nonetheless it is a little less simple.
My personal preference ? I prefer the GC 76 because I prefer heavier razors, and I prefer razors that let you use technique to find your comfort zone with different angles of cut.
Keep in mind when I say lightly more efficient it is not night and day, after all both of these razors are in the mild to medium range in terms of efficiency and blade feel.
Hope this helps.
I hadn't considered the fixed angle, the GC is a great razor but wondered about the Henson as there was much talk about it.Haven’t tried the Henson, but fell in love with the Game Changer .84 and .76 (also the Lupo Aluminum) after having the Rockwell 6C for some time. At this point I don’t see myself ever buying a Henson, I’m sure it works well but I think I’d be bored with the fixed shaving angle.
If you’re interested in a lighter razor, I personally prefer the Lupo Aluminum over the Game Changers (which says a lot), and at $40 its the cheapest option we’ve mentioned so far on this thread.I hadn't considered the fixed angle, the GC is a great razor but wondered about the Henson as there was much talk about it.
It's not a Henson but maybe pickup a Yaqi Tile stainless steel head and use it with your existing Gamechanger handle? The fixed amgle feels like dragging a metal block around your face but the results are excellent. I prefer the weight and feel of 316 stainless steel.I needed to know is the Henson better.......... i must be mad, quite mad

Handle dimensions:I looked, and Looked, but found no Weight specifications on Aluminum Henson online. Maybe someone who own could put on a scale to get answer.
Did look at one Henson Aluminum local place that selsl Henson, but if I recall it was what I call light.
Handle dimensions:
The handle is tapered from 12.25 mm [.482”] at the tail to 9.75 mm [.384”] near the head.
The overall handle length is 96 mm [3.780”].
Weight:
Henson AL13 - 1.3oz
Henson Ti22 - 2.23oz
The Henson is better. It is for shaving and not something you talk endlessly about. It is incredibly well made and will last a lifetime.Would you say a Henson Al13 ++ is a more efficient / better razor than a Razorock GC .76
AgreedThe Henson may have been a little easier to use out of the gate, but mastery of the GC will get you better and more enjoyable shaves in the long run. My opinion. Conflicting takes are certainly available!
That's the trouble with RR can't get a decent shave for all the jabbering about them, who knew the Henson was for shaving, thought it was for scraping barnacles off boats. The Henson is better. I'm in the UK and compared to North America Henson are quite expensive and I don't think there is a returns policy.I'll just say that a razor with a universal top cap design, such as with the GC, will never be as precise as one where the top cap is matched to the aggression, like with Hensons.
If you're in North America it's kind of a no-brainer since you can return a Henson if you hate it. I don't believe anyone else does that.
I can relate. A decade ago it was Americans getting gouged on European razors. Y'all still break even with shave brushes, though.I'm in the UK and compared to North America Henson are quite expensive and I don't think there is a returns policy.
The GC cost me £82 that was also expensive compared to North America.
