I want to know how the majority of dry your razors after use. Do you air dry or take apart and towel dry? Me personally I take mine apart

I take mine apart and dry them. I've bought too many vintage razors covered in gunk and rust to allow my razors to get that way.

I've only got two razors, so they don't end up sitting around unused for a long time. I just wipe down the handles, give them a couple of good shakes, and let them air dry. When I change blades, I give them a good scrubbing with bathroom cleaner and an old toothbrush. That seems to eliminate any soap and crud buildup and leaves them sparkly clean! :thumbup1:

I definitely have OCD when it comes to cleaning, drying and keeping my razors pristine looking.

I hate the wax that gets on the head of the razor. After every shave I take it apart and clean it off, maybe even a very slight polish with the just the polish rag.

I take my razor apart and use a paper towel to dry each piece individually. If I plan on re-using the blade currently in the razor, I dip it in alcohol, wash it and am doubly sure to make sure both it and the razor are dry before I put them away.

Furthermore, my razor sometimes has a white residue left on it from my shaving soap drying out on the razor. If there is a significant amount of that, I dip the razor in alcohol and then wash and dry it as well.

I take mine apart and dry it. I used to let my old one air dry, but that of course let it to rust after a while.

Rinse shake hang dry. Once a year or so I'll take a toothbrush to them. All of my razors are users. I don't go nuts with keeping them pristine. I do, however, want to pass them down to eventual sons or other kin...I hope they last...maybe I need to rethink my razor care.

I did, however, get a Bullmastiff with a replated NEW head on it yesterday. Wafter this morning's shave, I was a little more careful than usual.

1. Rinse
2. Shake dry
3. Place on shave shelf.

The only time I ever take my razor apart is to put a fresh blade in and while doing that it's a good time to clean the razor too.

Good hot rinse with clean water after I shave, shake the water off and put it in my stand. When I put in a new blade, I take an old toothbrush and scrub all the pieces until they are shiney and look like new.

If it's one of my three piece DE razors, then it's take apart and dry. Flip top SE, or any TTO razor, open up and dry. Injector, air dry as is.

If I use a three piece setup I will take it apart and wipe it dry. If I use TTO design I unload my blade and let it air dry. I than take my TTO unit and place it in an old plastic water bottle which I cut the top off containing a 60/40 dilution of barbacide. I let it sit for a few minutes and it seems to get rid of my soap deposits. Paper towel and dry.

For me it depends on what I am going to do with the razor. I have 3 razors in rotation. What I do is rinse, dip in alcohol, and air dry if I am going to use the blade again in the same razor. If I am going to a new blade in a new razor, I clean it with scrubbing bubbles and a tooth brush, rinse, dry it, dip in alcohol, and let sit.

Well, I think that the vote refers to DE razors, not str8. I voted other because I use straight razors. In that case, I rinse under tap and wipe dry and strop. leave it open to air dry for full day then put it away 'til next time I use it.

When I used to shave with a DE, I would rinse it and air dry it. When came time to change the blades (every week or so, give or take depending on blade), I would take it apart and give it a good cleaning

I knew I was forgetting something I should have stated that :tongue_sm

It will make some few of you cringe but with a DE just rubbing my finger over it makes a good start. Sometimes a wash cloth . . . Sometimes my tooth brush and I really don't worry . . . I will brush my teeth with it too. Once in a while scrubbing bubbles.

I usually give it a gentle shake, then loosen the doors and blow some air through it. Perhaps once a week or so, when I remove an old blade, I'll wipe it down with a dry towel to buff away any soap film.

I use mostly three-piece DE razors; I just rinse them off after use, shake the water off, and let them air dry. When I change blades, I rinse each piece more thoroughly to remove any soap/cream buildup and then towel dry the pieces before I put in the new blade. Once every couple of months or so I use a little Scrubbing Bubbles and a soft toothbrush on them to remove any remaining soap scum and to restore the shine.
