What's new

Razor bid.

Just bidding on a razor on ebay and was the winning bidder, but seller canceled the sale before it ended and re-listed the razor.

Just wondering if this is normal.

Sounds like you got a raw deal! Is the new listing at a higher starting price?

Haven't read the rules in detail (that's SWMBO's department as she sells stuff...I just buy ) but I thought you could only cancel a sale if the item was damaged or no longer available...which would mean it couldn't be re-listed.

Were you given a reason? I know my wife's had to cancel a bid from a buyer who doesn't read/ignores her bidder requirements (e.g. international bid on an item that states "collect in person, heavy and bulky item").

Another reason to stay away from ebay for razors. Unless there was some reason you shouldn't be allowed to bid on it, the guy just ripped you off. Now he's going to try to get more $ for it because he didn't like the final auction price. Not someone you want to be dealing with anyway.

If it were me, I'd contact ebay. This won't solve anything, but it might make you feel better. Or, it will make you fell much worse when ebay sides with the seller.

Email eBay with the item number and the circumstances, as well as the re-listing and they may do something- like punish the perp. They are really interested in running as "clean" a site as possible.

Thanks for the help gentlemen, I have contacted ebay...I don't have high hopes.

Nonetheless, I appreciate your assistance.:001_smile

With the sniping that goes on in the last few seconds, how can sellers know they won't get their price when it's over? I saw a SS triple in price the other night. Thought I had it easily and got out-sniped by a lot.

Good point. Any bids that come in before the last few seconds are virtually meaningless, and no indication of what the item will ultimately command.
