Just came back from a small shopping trip in downtown Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province. Got Das Kapital 
and am pleased to've haggled down from 48 to 35yuan for a brand new, thick, rawhide belt that could definitely be used for a strop (though won't). They have a lot of stuff in the army surplus-shop section, which is pretty cool if you want to see what the Chinese Army are wearing nowadays. I love the new pixellated camouflage they've got. Was speaking to a nice younger guy and told him how scared we all were by the military parade they held last year. He laughed and said "I am very proud of my country" They had an AMAZING 4-5mm leather, 1-strap satchel a la WWII, but it was a bit expensive. Anyone else love rawhide/untreated/natural (i.e. unsoftened) leather? Anywhere to get it in The UK?
