RAD setting in, Need new Razor(s)

I've been DE shaving for about two months now and feel pretty comfortable with it so I've been thinking about picking up a third razor (I already have a Edwin Jagger DE89 and Merkur 37C Slant) to use in my rotation and a inexpensive razor for travel. I would like something different enough from the DE89 and 37C. I was thinking maybe a Merkur Futur, Muhle R41, or a Weber stainless steel (trying to keep the price around $75), any opinions on these razors or recommendations on anything else I should be looking at? I was also looking to pickup something cheap for travel, maybe a Lord L6 or vintage but not sure what (would like to keep it under $20 just on case I run into any TSA problems), any ideas?

Depends what you like, Mild, Medium or Agressive,

The R41 Extremley Aggressive and not recomended for a New shaver.

The Future on its lowest setting is Medium aggressive and highest Setting is like a Straight Razor.

The Weber is like an EJ89 just a Tad bit more aggressive but smooth and Efficient, and All Stainless Steel Hunk of a Razor )

My Recomendations at your shaving level and more for your money is ? Weber polished with BullDog handle

I also have a Dovo Straight Razor which I am still in the process of learning how to use so I am not too worried about getting a aggressive DE. I like that the Futur is adjustable and the Weber is stainless steel, too bad there isn't a stainless steel Futur.

An L6 for travel is an excellent choice. Although the handle is light (Aluminum), that makes it head heavy, and the merkur like head yields an excellent shave. Some members keep the L6 in their rotation, it is that good. You can also use the L6 head with a heavier handle, which yields excellent results.

There is a Chrome on. I have one.

Leaning towards the Weber with the bulldog handle, is it different enough from my DE89 and 37C? I heard it's comparable to the Merkur 34C HD, true? Are there any other stainless steel razors around $75 or is Weber the only game in town?

I have a Weber with polished head & Bulldog handle. It's like a 34c on steroids; chunkier, heavier, shaves closer. Yet the 34c is still a good razor for me and it is still in rotation. I am not the least bit sad I added the Weber, nor does the Weber make me want to sell the 34c.
Cheers

IMO you need a vintage in there. Maybe a super adjustable, slim or fatboy. Or my current favorite, a President.

Definitely pick up an L6 for a travel razor, great shaver for cheap!

I was thinking about a vintage instead of the L6 for the travel razor, just not sure which one can be found around $20 in decent condition.

AFAIK for the budget you have in mind the Weber is the only stainless steel option. I agree with RaiserLiebe's comment that it's like a 34c on steroids, it's an excellent razor.

The perfect addition to your den would be a long-handled Progress. Excellent shaver, with a unique center plate (really more of an anvil) that bends the blade which facilitates getting the cutting edge of the blade on the skin at an effective angle. I also recommend passing on the Futur unless you know you like aggressive shavers.

Ordered the Weber with the bulldog handle today, hopefully I'll have it before the weekend. Thanks to everyone for the advice.

What does everyone think of a Gillette Slim Adjustable for the travel razor? I like that it is a vintage razor, it's adjustable, and it doesn't hurt that it's the razor James Bond used in Goldfinger. Is it possible to find one of these in decent condition under $30?

I like the Feather razor, I think its called the popular? its the black plastic TTO razor. It comes with a plastic case to, super easy to travel with.

I would like to stay away from plastic razors. I was thinking I could get a better bang for my buck if I go vintage.

Had my eye on that too, but it's almost as much as the Weber was.

I've had both the Weber and Progress (4 custom Progress razors) in the past.

Now I just have just one custom Progress as the Weber and 3 of the customs went off to someone else. :001_smile
