R41 Grande First Impressions

Hi guys. I just received a Muhle R41 Open Comb Grande. I just wanted to share my experience with it.
Ever since I got my Ikon a few weeks back, it’s all I’ve been using. Recently I also received a FaTip which I sold because I really didn’t like the quality vs price I paid for it. The Ikon is a solid razor. It’s very mild and takes a few more passes and skin stretching but it provides a wonderful irritation free shave.

Now with that being said. I just had a shave with the grade with some polsilvers. I must say it’s quite an efficient shaving tool, I only needed 2 complete passes with touch up and that’s all it took to get a wonderfully, smooth, irritation free shave.
As far as I could tell this razor is just a pleasure to use. I didn’t need to stretch my skin, and on the tricky parts, where my hair grows at a weird angle, it made quick work of that area.
The construction is superb, the finish is flawless, and it’s just a wonderful tool to use. You may be put off by it’s size. But I think it’s very light and well balanced. I would have to say it’s one of the best razors I’ve used. I shaved around 8 am this morning, and it’s about 5 pm and still feels pretty smooth.

My digital scale reads; 60.5 Grams for the handle and 28.3 for both head pieces. Total weight reads 88.8 grams. The handle is hollow with some pretty nice weight at the ends.

On a scale from 1 to 10 I would give this razor a 9.5 for first impressions.

I have the R41 and R41 Grande. I agree that they are very efficient and wonderful shavers. I JUST finished my shave with the R41 Grande and I think I prefer the original sized handle. The grande is a little trickier to maneuver for me and I don't like the 'hollow' feel of the handle. I'm gonna keep shaving with both for a couple of weeks before I sell the loser on BST. It's a beautiful razor for sure.
