Bob was a decent comedian that always put a smile on my face, I bought one of his albums and still like to listen to it with other comedian's. I remember the Bob Newhart show also and it ran for a # of years, good comedian's who have clean humor are # 1 in my books and he is one of them!
He spoke at my wife's college graduation. His advice: "If you want to sound smart, allude to Kafka. Even if you haven't read any of his...or her... works."
my dad was an even bigger fan of Newhart than me. Both his shows were "shut up, dad's show is on" tv in our household. He also had both LP's The Button Down Mind and The Button Down Mind Strikes Back. I was a big fan of the Grace L Ferguson Airline and Storm Door Company.
Years ago , I played in an orchestra that backed him up , he told jokes and sang a few tunes , I remember him being just as he was on television, very mild mannered , and very kind ,su nice guy .
I loved Bob Newhart. He had a unique way about him, having been an accountant before going into comedy.
I always found it funny that his best friend was Don Rickles. Those two and their wives vacationed all the time. Their styles couldn't have been more different but somehow they became best buddies.
R.I.P. Mr. Newhart. You deserve the rest. And thanks for making us laugh so many times over so many years.
