What's new

Question for the Chemical Group.

For all you chemists and knowledgeable guys. Wanting to use this as a burn barrel. Anyone know what exactly was in here before? Is it a Hazmat issue?
Safe to use for burning yard trash, etc?
All I've been able to determine is that it's some sort of desiccant/moisture absorber.

Moisture absorber. If you've rinsed the drum out I think it would be fine, then first fire is going to negate any lingering issue.
It's not like you're standing there over a burn barrel breathing in the smoke, but just in case... don't do that.

It's an Aluminum silicate, powder, or fine dust. You should wear a dust mask when handling this material, its not good for lungs....After it is cleaned out with water, I think you should be fine using it as a burn barrel.
