Question about the Musgo Pre-shave glycerin soap....

I got some yesterday and I just want to make sure that I am using it right. Is it ok to use in the shower as the last step or is there some better method to using it?

I got a straight razor shave at a nice shop in San Francisco. The guy there put some kind of preshave on my face before he applied the hot towel. He left the whole thing on for a few minutes then wiped it off when he removed the towel. I've got the MRGLO on the way and I plan to try to use it that way and see if I can emulate the affect I got in the barber shop.

I got an excellent shave this morning after using it. Good luck.

FWIW, I was getting "day after" whiteheads when I used the Musgo Real Lime Glyce as a preshave facial wash. That stopped after I stopped using the soap, your reaction might be different.

I used it first thing in the shower when I had one and then rinsed my beard at the very end. To be honest, the scent is nice, it's a glycerin soap and it doesn't lather... I found that using my regular bar of soap to prep my beard gave me the exact same results...

It's like any other preshave, it's made with glycerin so you rub it on and it gives some glide or smoothness to the shave, and leaves some soap (water) on your face while getting your lather ready.

So yes, preshave soap.

I bought it without knowing it was a preshave soap, tried to use it as a shave soap and boy did I have a horrible shave. The lime just burned the scraped face it left behind, pass 2 started and then I gave up for the day.

edit:

I found this same thing.

Thank you. Did you like it?

Funny story there: I bought the MR Glyce puck not looking at it too carefully and thinking, "Great! I love Musgo AS and cream, but never saw a shave soap before." Tried shaving with it, and my results were as painful as Omak's above. OUCH!! I tried using it as a pre-shave soap, but didn't really notice a difference. I wound up using it as a bath soap, and it worked fine for that. Would I buy it again? Probably not, but then, I'm a cheapskate. YMMV, as they say...

It's meant to be used as a pre-shave just before you lather your face. It leaves a light amount of oil on your face in order to facilitate your shave.
