Question about lathering soap

Ive always used creams and a scuttle to lather the creams. just wanted to know if its wrong to use a scuttle to lather soap or should i face lather. Give it a couple of twirls inside the mug or wooden bowl then face lather? Im just trying to figure out the proper way. i have a chubby 2 two band which my wife got me and havent used it. would this brush be better for face or sctuule lathering?

There is no wrong way to make lather (as long as the end results is a slick medium that protects your face). Your Chubby 2 handle may be a bit too short and squat to comfortably lather in a scuttle, but then again maybe not. Give face lathering a whirl - you might like it.

You can build a lather from soap in a scuttle/bowl or on your face. Both methods work well.

You should not have a problem using your Chubby 2 as a face brush or bowl lathering brush. You may find the handle a little short/small for use in a deep bowl/scuttle but other than that there should be no problems.

Any good recommendations on soaps. I would like to order 2-3 good kinds. Im a T&H and Geo F Trumpers cream guy. This would be my first order on soaps.

I'll recommend 3 each of the 3 types of soap that are available

Shave sticks (for face lathering)

Arko
Tabac
LaToja

Soaps

MWF
Tabac
D.R. Harris Arlington

Soft Soaps

Cella
Valobra
Vitos

Personally, I face lather. Two reasons: gives me more time to rub the nice feeling badger knot on my face and requires one less utensil.

Another vote for face lather. Your brush is really ideal for it. If you can't get face lathering down, you can always go to the scuttle.

And a vote for Tabac, extremely easy to later

Proraso is an easy soft soap to start with. Any D.R. Harris and Tabak are easy to lather too. Just take your time and load the brush very well. When you think you're done, load for 10 more seconds. It's better to use more soap than you need.

+1 Whichever works for you is the right way. Enjoy.

I do both...to wit: I build a base face lather with an arko stick then add other stuff like poraso and arko cream to create "frankenlather" After the base and blending and making of my later in a scuttle I apply more warm lather on my face and ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh bliss! shave away. I may not do it the "right way" but is how I like it and as always "your mileage may vary"

Remember that Arko is soft enough to squish into a puck using your shaving mug and the bottom of a large prescription bottle. That makes it easier if you find the traditional manner of using a shave stick isn't to your liking.

it's supposed to be a great face lathering brush as its dense. I would love to have one (wink- lol)
great gift and a loving wife- pays attention to detail!!
i love face lathering because it allows you to feel the lather build up and quality of the product, and.... I save time.
enjoy that brush mon amie
