Question about CrOx

Do you paste it onto a leather strop or linen? I've got a cheapie SRD combo strop that has a 2-sided leather hanging strop and 2-sided canvas and wasn't sure if it would be better to paste onto the backside of the leather or the backside of the canvas.

It doesn't matter,, It is a preference thing...

You can paste Linen , Leather, Balsa, Felt, heck even newspaper if you want...

My personal preference is leather, but that is all it is...

The real difference is how the paste cuts on all the different media, in general the harder the media the more cutting action, but with CrOx this is not as important as it is with Diamond

I've tried crox on leather for a while now and just recently moved to balsa with powdered crox (pure crox) and I notice a difference in the edge in the amount of passes and the feel of the blade. I like the balsa from now on.

So how often do you go to the Cr2O3? When leather strop no longer gives a sufficient shave?

Yup. When you feel the results not as good as before. I began to use the same straight for a week to see how long edges last from different hones I have so results may vary. But it's not very often that I have to hit it with crox.
