What's new

Proraso pre/post

I usually only use the stuff for pre shave. Tonight I tried it as an ASB.

My face is sticky, oily and generally slimy.

That's the last time I'll try this experiment.

I found that a smalle amount is better as an ASB. Then again I now use Vitos, the same thing really but a little cheaper.

i'm using this product since august 2012, pre shave and post shave too.
is fine and smell like cleaned man....i'll buy another product to test, vitos or another label...

I tried this a long time ago and I think it may have been marketed as 'sensitive'. Damn thing but the top layer of my skin right off!! I couldn't shave for days and had to get rid of it. There is way too much menthol in Proraso's products (all of them). People with dry or sensitive skin need to beware before using these products!

When I use it after a shave make sure your face is not dry...a little moisture on it is best and use sparingly. It can be heavy if not used properly.

A true variance in mileage here. Proraso pre/post is one product my den will NEVER be without. Used every shave as a preparatory balm, applied between passes, and if I've had a rather rough shave used as an ASB (sparingly!!!!). Also my own skin is sensitive, oily and still prone to (thankfully much fewer and far between now) breakouts. The couple bucks I pay for a jar of this are IMHO very good value. Love the whole Proraso range (old formula green tube...) and for me they just work. The challenge with the pre/post for some is the amount being used - it's a small jar that goes a loooooooong way...

THREAD BUMP!

I'm late to the game here, but I just received my first Pre/Post cream from Proraso.

Pros: Very very cool feeling. Face feels more slick. Inexpensive and appears to have very high mileage. Pairs well with other Proraso products.
Cons: Can 'easily' be applied too thick. Menthol may be a deal breaker for some. Not sold locally for me (lol).

Thought I'd throw this info out here too.

So funny - I always use it as a pre, but today for whatever reason I used it post as an ASB as stated by the OP. Love it for pre treatment, but it doesn't do much for me post. I need something richer and more moisturizing.

Needs milk and a bidet!
I thought this was noxema under a different name? Is it really worth the extra money?

It is definitely not Noxema under a different name. I have both and they are miles apart. IMO, Proraso is worth the money.
Shaverjoe pretty much said what i was thinking before i got to his post. definitely not the same. I know because i tried noxema as a pre-shave, just like you'd use proraso and it was terrible terrible terrible. if by some chance they do have the exact same ingredients then the proportions have to be different somehow. My shave den will never be without Proraso. My shaves have improved by a long shot. Even blades that were not up to my standars before now shave me quite well.

As they've already said, they are quite different. However, I actually use and prefer Noxema. I find that it keeps things very slick to start, but it also helps with keeping skin clean and healthy. Truthfully, I think it performs a bit better than the new Proraso formulation.
