Proraso Pre and Post Shave Cream

I just bought some of this stuff. I'm more curious than anything. What's the method of using it as a pre shave cream? You apply and rub it in and then put the Proraso shave cream on, or do you rinse it off first before putting the shave cream on?

And how does it do as a post shave cream? Anyone use it and can give recommendations for the best use?

I often use the white jar version.

I take a hot shower, then rub the cream in my face for 1-2 minutes... then I lather up as usual. I don't wash it off.

I've read of it being used both ways. Some leave it on like RazoRock, and some rinse it off then apply lather. I don't believe there is a right or wrong way to use it, just which ever you prefer.

I rub it on, let it sit for a minute or two while I putter around, then I lather right on top of it.

Of all the various types of products I've tested over the last 2.5 years, few have impressed me as much as PPP. It makes a BIG difference.

Sweet. I ordered via Amazon and they are usually pretty fast. Looking forward to trying something new. Speaking like I'm an old timer at this! :001_smile

I find it a big meh as a pre shave. As an AS it's very good though.

Best applied very sparingly to a damp face, it gives plenty of coverage. If you put too much on a dry face it won't absorb well, and go tacky.

Don't try and lather up with it though. :w00t:

I love the pre-post. What I do is wash my face, apply the Proraso and let it stay on my face for about a minute or two (while I make my lather). Then I apply a hot towel for about one minute, splash some warm water on my face, and lather up. I apply it sparingly.

It's funny how this stuff polarises opinion so much!

I use the sensitive in the white jar as a pre-shave like some other posters up above and I like it and feel that it does add to my overall shave. I find it particularly useful around my Adam's apple as the grain is all over the place there and the whiskers need to be softened as much as possible to avoid too much irritation.

I use the green pre/post cream on my beard right after the shower. I let it act while I strop the razor, then I put on the shaving cream, shave, rinse, repeat. Sometimes, if I'm having a rough shave, I put some of the pre/post between passes, like a shaving oil.

When all's done, I do a warm water rinse to clean off, and put on pre/post. I let seep into my skin, clean the counter and the razor, then I do a cold (VERY cold and metholated by then!) water rinse.

I put on AS balm, and some AS lotion as well, and I'm good to go. Usually, I use only Proraso products with this sequence, but it's good for any other product.

I wet the face, rub a small amount in, leave for a couple of minutes and then wash off before applying lather
I find it odd though. With certain soaps eg La Toja, Tabac and to a lesser extent Palmolive, I can get some irritation and razor "burn"- almost mild rash. But not with Proraso or other soaps. I wonder whether it reacts badly to tallow or some other ingredient...

I like using the whole proraso line up together.. I find it gives me the least burn, and in fact, most exciting shave when used together than apart.
+1

Most software lines go best with their own brand-names ... and this true in most areas of life.

Proraso is a stand-out example of a homogenous brand. Tabac is another notable.

Each piece is good by itself, and plays well with other brands. But like the instruments in an orchestra, its only when you put them all together, they make beautiful music.

Proraso is a great product. I apply the pre post shave stuff before I lather up my bowl to let it soften my beard. I only use it with Proraso shave cream because the scent would over power any other soap or cream. It also makes me sneeze when i first apply it!
