Professional restore of a Filarmonica Novodur... Where/Who can help? My first razor!

Good Morning all,

I have been lurking a long time and finally made my first purchase of a filly novodur in need of some restoration...
here is a link, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...witem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_500wt_1204

I have looked over the list of vendors offering restoration, as well as private services. However, I am inclined to see what the community has to say about the best route to go with! I'm hoping to preserve as much of the gold as possible and get this shave ready!

Thank you in advance and enjoy the weekend.

Cheers,
CJ

That does not need much restoring, hone her up and shave.

It's his first razor, Doc. I don't think he knows how to hone it yet, or has a hone.
I wouldn't want that to be the razor I learned to hone on. Heck of a nice first razor.

I agree that it doesn't need much restoration, and anyone who has restored a couple of razors should be able to clean it up and preserve the gold etch as well as hone it.
If you want to replace the scales, that's another step.
Go through the restoration forum, look at the examples and PM whoever takes your fancy.

Missed that part, it is his first post.

I can hone that beauty for you and do some basic cleaning of it for the price of shipping. PM me if interested.

Thank you all for responding,

Yes it is my first, and you are correct in assuming I have no hone or the skills to accomplish it, but I aim to learn! I'll most definitely take you up on the offer Doc, thank you and I look forward to joining the club!

Personally, I wouldn't touch those scales for an instant; they look great to me--and I'm a sucker for Filarmonica scales! Congratulations on a good deal on that thing! No doubt, Doc will get you started in the right way.

P.S., welcome to B & B!
