Price vs longevity of scent

I have the following question:
what was your best buy cologne or eau de toilette.
I mean low price and "long life of scent"and of course questions from women which complemented and asked what are you using because it has a unique and interesting smell.
I'm sorry if I did not express clearly but I believe that you understand my question.
For my the best result was with Alvarez Gómez Agua de Colonia Concentrada
Price - 30$ for 7.40 fl. oz
Longevity of scent ~ 7 hr

Prada Amber PH - got a "used tester" 99% full (100mL) for $35. Lasts 8-12 hours on me.

Or... I got a brand new bottle of A*men for $40 (100mL) which lasts 12-16 hours on me so that's a toss up.

IMHO, the more synthetic the scent/ingredient, the longer the longevity. I believe higher priced scents have a shorter lifespan/longevity on the human body because their scents contain more natural or less synthetic ingredients. And of course, natural scents cost more to produce.

I don't think there is any correlation between price, and longevity of the scent. Price is more a function of the design house, and popularity of the scent.

Citrus based scents are going to be short lived regardless of who makes them, or how much you pay for them for example.

There are also a lot of older scents that are not as popular that can be had for next to nothing, that have a ton of longevity. Grey Flannel, Clubman, and Paco Rabanne come to mind.

I've gotten 8+hrs out of the four different Tom Fords I've tried...even though two of them I really didn't want to last that long. :) (Amber Absolute and Tobacco Vanille, YAY...Italian Cypres and Tuscan Leather, BOO!)

Creed Aventus and Taberome both also last on me. Aventus I get a minimum of 7hrs and Taberome lasts until I have a shower. I've smelled it after a very hard workout 10hrs after first putting it on.

Apparently my wife can smell Aventus 2 days later, even AFTER I've had a shower! Right now she has pregnancy nose so she's got the scent receptacle of a freakin' bloodhound. :) I think most people will agree that it's about a day's worth of scent.

Synthetics do not last on me. Like at all. Maybe a 20-30 minute profile and then nada. For those that will say it's just your nose has aclimated to the scent I say "Nay Nay!". Even my co-workers that I use as my scent testers agree that I'm not wearing any cologne by the time I get to work (45min minimum commute each way). It's the higher end colognes that actually last on me. Sometimes without me really noticing, e.g. Aventus. For me that makes the scents worth the extra money. That and I'm not going to buy anything at retail prices anyway. I'd rather buy a decant 'cause that I'll actually use all of. Cost per mL may go up but at least I use up the whole thing before I tire of it. Or my wife does, which is actually more important. :)

Cheers,

M.
