Powdery aftershaves

Since I started wet shaving I think my biggest obsession has been trying as many aftershaves as I can get my hands on, even more so than creams and soaps. I think the reason is because the aftershave you use has the most lasting effect on the shave. A good aftershave can soothe a bad shave and makes a good shave feel even better, as well as leave a pleasant smell that can last a while. My favorites are Clubman and TOBS Sandalwood mainly because of the powdery feeling they leave on my skin. The question I have for the guys around here that have more experience is what causes this powdery feel? I've tried about ten different after shaves and these two are the only products that leave me with that baby powder soft sensation. What causes it and what other brands can I try that may leave the same feeling? Thanks.

Clubman is one of my favourite aftershaves. It has a talc-like smell to me that I believe gives the powdery scent. You might like Floid Vigoroso. I believe that the powdery feel is due to the very high alcohol content and the lack of glycerin or other emollients. Clubman VI Bay Rum leaves me with that same feeling.

TOBS aftershaves definitely give me that powdery feel you are describing. I like Myrsol aftershaves as well for that kind of feeling.
