I was at Homegoods earlier today with SWMBO and found this bowl. Not bad for $3.99. There were several other options for about the same price. Not too shabby and fit week in the hand, and I do not have Andre the Giant hands.

Sounds and looks like a winner to me. Consider throwing some epoxy lines in there if smooth to help with lathering if you want to.

What do you mean by epoxy lines... Like mix up some epoxy and put some beads of it in there?
Basically, or spirals, or spiderweb'd. Basically, if the interior surface is too smooth, it takes longer to build the lather. A textured surface aids aeration of the lather as you build it.

Yep - that simple. Try some shaves with the bowl as and see how you like it first. If you feel you're not getting a sufficient lather, try adding beads of epoxy for some roughage and see if that helps.
