Possible Restoration?

Hey guys,
Thinking of getting my first FP back into order, this is the one that piqued my interest, and led me to a Safari. It's a parker, with an old dried out sac, and possibly bent nib. What do I need to do here? Simply replace the sac? (Where could I get one?) Or is there new technology so I could use a converter? Also, where might I get a replacement nib?

Thanks!

Sac replacement is fairly simple and straight-forward. For an excellent summary of the process, check out Richard Binder's site http://www.richardspens.com/ and follow the links under the Reference Pages to the article titled "How to Replace a Pen Sac." Nib straightening is another matter. If it's a simple bend, you'll probably be able to gently coax it back into position with just hand pressure. More severe damage may require professional attention (or at least entail a higher degree of risk). Binder also sells replacement sacs, sac shellac, and other pen repair supplies, but there are other sources available online with a simple search.

Looks like a Deluxe Challenger but they usually have three cap bands. Anyway, you'll need to identify the model to help purchase the correct sac (larger Challengers take a #20). Like Larry says above, straightening the nib is something you may be able to do or not, depending on the damage. Is it gold or steel?

There is a traveling pen repair kit with shellac and some other supplies but it's not expensive to buy either. Start reading, we can coach you through it.
