Possible 'Mayfair Deluxe'

I bought what I thought was a standard Old Type-Ball End Tech off the Bay, but after I received it I noticed the part where the handle meets the head was significantly different(thinner) than a standard Ball End that I'm used to using/seeing. Is this simply due to age/wear, as the knurling is significantly worn down and almost smooth. Btw, it's the Brass/Gold one that I'm referring to. Here are some pictures of it all polished up, next to a standard Ball End for comparison purposes.

-If this is not a Mayfair Deluxe, could someone please describe any notable differences of the Mayfair one would notice, anyway? Is it simply the case/kit it comes in? Or is there any visual cues that set it apart from other Old Types?

edit- Sorry for the stupid question guys. I came to found out very quickly after posting this that the Mayfair is made in England. The head/baseplate on mine is most definitely not made in England, but I'm still curious about the deal w/ the strange handle. I guess it's very likely that it's simply from excessive wear. Looks unique to me though!
