Polarized Perfection: 8 Great Shades For Every Summer Activity

Nice article from gearpatrol.com about their top picks of sunglasses. Granted this not a definitive list IMO, but anyone looking for a pair of good shades should check this out.

"With the latest heatwave glaring down on us, it’s important to remember the basics. No, we’re not talking about getting in a few bottles of water a day — though that is essential if you want to stay upright on your summer adventures. We mean the perfect pair of sunglasses, that underrated adventurer’s friend. They’re more than just and accessory; the correct pair can save you a lot of discomfort and separate you from the mass of tourists soaking up the sun at any and every hip spot around. Whether you’ll be spending your summer hitting the roads on two wheels, kicking back and enjoying the beach life, or hiking into your favorite backcountry hideaway, we’ve got the best sunglasses (along with similar, more affordable options) for your summer adventures."

Thanks for sharing, now I am on the prowl for a new pair of sunglasses. Thanks a lot buddy :)

I am really liking the Maui Jim Black Corals. I like rectangular style frames. I currently have a pair of Ray Ban 3212s, which have a similar frame shape to the Maui Jim Black Corals. They are sized for medium to large sized heads. I have a medium sized head. They could be too wide. Hmmm, might have to check them out at the store.

Took me a long time to find a pair that fit and I liked, came down to a pair of maui jims or smith optics. Got the smith optics piv lock just fit me better and vision seems clearer also stay better when leaning out of canoe.

Maui jims are sweet. Great frames, lenses, customer service and that's what they do - make sunglasses. They aren't a high-end designer who subcontracts out the production and throws their logo on them.
Not cheap but not the most expensive out there and you get tons of bang for your buck.

A friend of mine swears by Kaenon. Great quality, not too pricey and they have a pretty good warranty. Recently, I bought a pair of Nike Tailwind shades at Costco for $40.00 and I'm surprised how good they are.

And the article completely leaves out what is probably the number 1 sunny day activity: driving.

For driving, I'd suggest a pair of Serengeti Drivers. I have a pair of Ray Ban Spinal Tap IIs which are my everyday sunglasses (and sadly, out of production).

But when I'm taking a drive more than just to the corner store -- especially if it's a "spirited drive" in one of the Mustangs -- I bring out my Serengeti Drivers (model is "Trieste") Awesome polarized anti-glare, clarity and because they're mildly photochromic (auto darken/lighten) they can be worn at dusk/dawn without being "too dark".
