The way I figure, they had a choice of a French warship or an American cruise ship ferrying old ladies, so they went for the easy target.

"The men started their usual pre-boarding drill, letting loose with Kalashnikov assault rifles, when they noticed the 40 millimetre cannon and missiles on the deck above them."

How do you not see 40 mm cannons and missiles? These pirates must suck somethin' awful.

Hey, is there a bounty out for theses guys? I like my odds. I mean, if a single, French warship can stop them...

But they only apprehended 5 guys!

The end of the article also recalls the 3.2 million paid in ransom to the pirates for the Russian vessel. ((sigh))

What an idea! Disguise some war ships as merchant vessels and send them to Somalia. If it can work by accident, then it can work on purpose.

A 40mm Bofors gun staring you in the chops tends to make things decidedly less likely to escalate to a gun battle. As in, you pop off meaningless 7.62x39mm small arms ammo against the sides of a steel battle ship and the 40mm ratchets about a dozen times and your over grown bass boat goes to the bottom like a lead anchor. Even our Froggy friends couldn't miss that one. All teasing aside, I wish they would have blown them into chum whilst playing La Marseillaise at very loud volume.
