Pipes and Dentures

In one more day I will have both upper and lower full dentures. Not looking forward to the tooth pulling that will be occurring Wednesday morning, but it must be done. At any rate, any suggestions on pipes? So far have read that bent stems with saddle bits would be better than straight stems with tapered bits. Would value any more ideas.

I have uppers, and with Polygrip I have no problems with either type of pipes. The straights, however, do cause more downward force than bents, so they may be your best bet.

well my toothless friend, i would say that is up to you, dublins , zulus and such should be fine with your situation, and full bents for that matter, if your a bearded one , which usually happens after a military background , the full bents will lie right in a sweet hairy nest cushion

Actually, they pulled about seven or eight from the top (more than I thought were left), and two from the bottom that had previously been root-canaled and capped but that had decayed. I wavered because I thought that might be too taxing, but, reflecting that it has taken two years to get this far, had the dentist go ahead. Took about three hours to do. And it was about three hours ago that he finished, but so far I feel fine! Have the temporary uppers in because he wants to gums to heal with them in. Tomorrow morning he will put in the permanent lowers (they weren't quite ready this morning). So far, so good!!!

YOU WILL BE FINE BROTHER, i would not smoke for awhile, open gums and such

Interestingly, several teeth ago I asked the dentist why the warning on smoking after teeth extractions; smoke, tar, nicotine over the wound etc. That particular dentist said that the warning was because nicotine reduced the supply of oxygen in the blood and, hence, a longer time to heal.

I lost a bunch of teeth playing semi-pro ice hockey. You will love your fake teeth in no time! Best if luck healing and can't wait to hear about your first bowl; but not sooner than the dentist says! Sounds like a great time to focus on your BBS!

I always heard you had the chance of dry socket (inhaling pulling out the clot). I just inhaled gently :001_smile

wow, are you getting screwins for the lower, or all dentures

All dentures. My teeth and bone structure did not really allow for the screws with any reasonable chance for success. In fact, the two lower stubs that the dentist removed yesterday had been candidates for screws until xray and bone analyses proved otherwise.

the screws would scare the heck out of me , i do not like operations at all, look at the bright side , dentures can also be used for cleaning up spilled/spread out fresh tobacco when your blending , they pile up nicely ----------- i had to pull that one , its all cool bro
