Pils or Feather?

Gents-

Looking at a Pils or Feather All Stainless. Which one should I choose? Right now I have a Merkur Vision which I like a lot but the head is too big to get around my goatee area where my beard is the most coarse and hard to shave. It is alos hard to rinse the head well.

Thanks!

Josh

With a TTO try loosening the doors a little and swish it around in a basin of water to clear it out.

You will find the Feather might be a little mild for you.

Take a look at the Joris Palladium razors if you are after a higher end purchase like the Feather or Pils.

Tradere OC is a nice new razor you might want to look into. It's stainless like the Pils and Feather.

I have to agree that the Feather, though a very nicely made razor, is very mild. Some have had excellent results with it, but if you're accustomed to an aggressive razor gap or have a heavy beard, it probably wont work.
Too bad, because it's like a piece of art. Mine will be going into the B/S/T section or Ebay soon.

the
feather is a mild but aggressive results razor. The mildness is very deceiving, but I like a real aggressive razor altogether though.

How soon/how much??

If you have to choose between the two, i would definitely go with the Pils; best crafted razor out there, in my opinion. However, you may find it a bit mild for your coarse beard, possibly. Tradere OC or other OCs might be a better way to go such as the Aristocrat, Single Rings, FaTip, etc..

These are razors you buy for their looks rather than their performance. There are dozens of razors that will perform as well (or better) at much, much lower prices. So my advice is to buy the one that appeals to you visually.

Honestly; get a beat up vintage Gillette and have it re-plated. You can then choose what ever finish you want; silver, bright nickel, 24 kt gold, rhodium, or rose gold.

Rose gold Old Type and Rocket.

Rhodium red tip, sterling silver Old Type in the middle. The Old Type on the right is the same one in the first pic, I had done in Rose Gold.

Bingo

Thats why I don't have a super speed way to small for my taste. Have never held a Fatboy or president but if theyre roughly the same size no thanks.

Unfortunately you're right - could just not get a long with my Feather, even after 25+ shaves with it trying stubbornly to find the right angle of attack, using 2 blades to widen the attacking gap - it still won't cut more than 10% of my whiskers in an 8-10 pass shave with nice lather and 2-3 days stubbles
I've tried holding it at every angle possible, using no force at all, using far too much force, no nothing.
A piece of useless art for my beard stubbles......I know it works great for other wet shavers.

I Love My Feather ) Never tired the Pils but i imagine its in its own catagory.

So I would just buy both and shave with both for 2-3 weeks straight and Sell the one i least like, and if i like them both i would keep them both. Yes its that Simple )
