Parker 51's are amazing

I picked one up off the auction site and after a little flushing and cleaning what looked like old Parker blue Quink, I have it inked up with some Diamine Jet Black and I love it. This one is a Ceadar Blue, fine point aerometric filler, that unfortunatly has the previous owners Grandfather's name engraved on the body and I'm really glad that the previous owner didn't use Super Chrome ink in it. Yeah, the fellow sold the pen his grandfather gave him for $30 because what was he going to do with it? His words.

Pics to follow, too excited right now to play with the camera.

I know the excitement, the first hours with my P51 were almost religious. 30 dollars for one that worked with just a flush is an absolute steal! Someone else's name? Pff... just a fun story to tell!

Hi Rich: Congrats on your Parker 51. I recently purchased one and love mine, too.

Wow. Even if I wasn't going to use it, I would cherish a pen my grandfather personally gave me, especially if it had his name engraved on it.

Don't you mean 'your' grandfathers name :001_tt2: just make up a wicked story. I actually own my Great Grandfathers parker 51 with his name engraved on it also!

Lucky you! However, I have a pen pouch that belonged to my granddad. One of my cherished possessions, together with the Merlin 33 button filler he always used.

I've said this around here before, but I have three Parker 51s. All are from my father's side of the family, and all are engraved.

That's what I was thinking Andy, it's a shame really.

I've been using this pen all day and I still like it. The nib even writes on my crappy officemax brand legals pads here at the office. I'll get a picture up later tonight, but it isn't anything too amazing. I was wrong about the color, it seems the cedar blue was a vac color whereas mine is midnight blue. I was surprised that it is a bit smaller than my usual Parker 45, but of course the nib is smoother and the body shape is a bit nicer. I keep turning the nib slightly and it will stop writing, I'm used to semi-hooded or non-hooded nibs so it's difficult to keep it oriented.

I love it.

Yeesh, all my plans of making sure I have pens, razors, cufflinks, &c, to give to grandkids as 'special remembrance' items get a little shaken with comments like this from your seller.

Why would anyone want a "51" ???

For just $30, it's cheaper than a Twisby.
