What's new

Panasonic Kindle ad. Whaaa?

Please oh please, someone explain this to me.

I know we go on and on about smooth, close shaves. Fine. Some folks like beards/'staches....that's cool too! But please have a look at this ad. I got the cheapy Kindle awhile back, and for 20 bucks less, it allows them to post ads on it while it's not in use. No biggee. I've seen this ad before too on here, but this evening I was just flabbergasted when I looked closely.

Here's the ad:

it is NOT pixellation, I'm sorry, I couldn't get the camera to show you the picture exactly right.

the guy's got like a 2 day growth! Is there some setting on electric razors now that says "look like a lazy ungroomed guy" on it? Why advertise a $300-to-sugg. retail price of $600 dollar electric razor (depending on where you order it) where the guy is unshaven? There's gotta be a reason....

That's a killer. I still have my old Panasonic electric. They make a good product but not a good ad.

And the only thing it has in common with us is that you can get it really wet.

That cracks me up. I have a buddy, who thinks my hobby is a joke, who told me he walked into an AoS store the other day and asked the guy if they had anything to maintain a 5 day growth at all times. I bet you can gues what they told him.

Yes, there is such a setting on many electrics.
It's an "in" look for many these days. I don't get it, but I see it.

I have a special setting on my DE that allows for stubble. I remove the blade and proceed to shave as normal. Repeat this step for approximately 1-2 days.

I recently saw--I believe in CVS--an electric trimmer/shaver where you select the length of stubble desired. Couldn't believe it.

Another somewhat odd product in this department.

At least, from my perspective, but I guess many guys (thanks GQ etc) want a high-maintenance stubble and are willing to pay for it.

I had a beard until this morning, when I converted it into a goatee.

My beard/hair trimmer will give me the Arafat look on comb #1, or the stubble look on no comb. I think that it cost $25. If you are into the stubble look, I recommend a hair/beard trimmer. Funny thing is, you still need to shave the bottom of your neck, or you will just look dirty.

Yes. It's called the power switch.

Looks like that razor only has 5 foils. There's your problem...

Shades of "**** everything, we're doing five blades."
