Over the range microwave

The handle on our 15 year old over the range microwave broke. With shipping to replace it will likely be $70. Probably not a brilliant thing to do for a machine this old. From what I've seen so far the sizes of these machines are all pretty much going to fit in the 30" wide 13" deep spot. We vent externally.

I'm looking for durability and perhaps quietness. What features / model / brand do you recommend?

I have always had good luck with Panasonic microwaves (not their TVs, though ). Have you considered a toaster oven instead? I feel like they do most of the same stuff, but are more versatile.

Kenmore Elite is good. I like the ones with the door that opens from either side.

I've never seen an over the range toaster oven. Wow I didn't think of Kenmore and the last two appliances I purchased were Kenmore.

My parents just put in a new kitchen and putin a kenmore.It's really nice

Mine is a Whirlpool. It came with the house and I believe it was new. We moved in 4 years ago.
