our new car: 2010 Honda CRV

so the missus and I ran some errands yesterday and then decided to test drive some more cars. We had not planned on actually buying a vehicle but after spending 3 hrs at the dealership we finally drove home in our new/used Honda CRV. I hated the fact that we still had to haggle on price, but we finally got the salesman to come down $1000 on a certified Honda. Overall i'm glad that it's over with and that we finally have a new car that can accomodate future baby and 75 lb dog. My wife now insists it's 'her' car :glare:

It's a good car. I've had a couple and this last go around decided to try something different. I hate to say it but I miss the CR-V. It sits up higher off the ground and can haul just about anything. Gas mileage was okay (not great) but the all-wheel drive was good in the snow. It will be a while, but I can see buying one again in the future.

P.S. Congrats on the baby. That's actually what prompted me to get a CR-V nine years ago... Can't believe it's been nine years. Children really do grow faster than you can imagine.

Did you test drive or give any consideration to the Toyota RAV-4 or the Hyundai Santa Fe? Just curious.

the Toyota Rav4 was next on our list of cars to look at, but the wife liked the CRV so much we ended up with that one instead. we had previously looked at the Subaru Forester and Outback but she felt they were too big for her.

the only thing that left me miffed about our transaction with the CRV was the additional warranty the dealership got us to buy, even though our car is already certified. It basically gives us an additional 4 yrs on top of our existing warranty. I knew and my wife knew this is another way for dealerships to milk more money out of customers. she said yes but I said no. finally, the finance guy kept lowering the amount so that we wound up only paying an additional $6 per month on top of our car payment, at least this is how it looked on paper.

My mother chose the RAV-4 over the CRV back in 2008, so I was just curious. The CRV is a nice crossover, but at 6'1", crossovers are a tad bit small for me, haha.

congrats on the baby - noticed today on msn.com that there's a summary by state of most popular vehicles & the CRV took top honors in at least Mass & CT , maybe more , didn't go through all the states .

Funny how it is now your wife's car.

My wife drove my truck a few days this week due to the bad weather. She mentioned last night how much she loves her truck.

Me: "Your's?"

Her: "Yes."

I didn't argue. If she's happy, then I am happy.

I've heard many women say that they like being "up high" , my wife enjoys driving our SUV for that reason & a truck would also give the same feeling .
