Orvis Saratoga Lambskin Jacket

I just got this jacket in the mail today and am extremely pleased in both the quality and fit. I went down one size and the jacket fits like it was custom made. The leather is soft and buttery with incredible grainy detail. This is far from any generic mall jacket. Highly recommended.

Looks great! Orvis Signature Twill shirts are a staple of my wardrobe -- rarely have I been disappointed in their products in general.

+1. It is pretty light but utterly luxurious. My favorite cool - not cold - weather jacket.

Smells great too!

I have been looking at the Orvis coats, unfortunately the local Orvis doesn't carry them. The one I'm considering is their leather Munitions coat which seems to have the same moleskin lining. Although when I called Orvis they said it was a very warm coat, I have my doubts. Do you think these coats would be sufficiently warm in the 25 degree range with some light layering?

I've worn my Saratoga in sub 25 degree weather, with and without a sweater. Without a sweater, it is a little light if you are going to be outside a long time. The Barbour Leather Bushman works much better when it is really cold or if you have to be outside for a while.

I've done a google search as well as check Orvis without being able to find the Barbour coat. Is is discontinued? The local Orvis store said they would special order the Munitions coat for me so at least I could save the shipping charge on it. The Barbour looks like it would be a good choice if I could find one.

I just bought it and returned it. It runs very big. Not as nice as the Saratoga coat but a little heavier although I wouldn't wear either below freezing temps no matter how many layers I have on.

I don't know if the leather Bushman is discontinued. I picked it up in London several years ago.

Very Nice.:thumbup1: I used to have a lambskin jacket. I loved it. Softest, most supple leather I have ever felt.
