Ordering some MdC... Quick question

Hello! I am planning on picking up some Martin De Candre soon but have never made an online purchase overseas before. The site is listing the price in euro and am just curious how this will show up on my statement for me. Does my bank just convert this to dollars and it shows up that way? Do I need to call them to notify them of an overseas purchase so it doesn't get flagged as suspicious? Thanks in advance!

I tried to order it, but Visa denied the transaction, thinking it was fraudulent ("Wait a minute. He's ordering something from another country?!"). You may want to call your card issuer before trying.

As for the conversion, my understanding (and I could be wrong) is that your bank will convert it, as they get better rates than individuals do.

Yep.

Also, I don't often have a problem with VISA suspecting fraud when I'm ordering from different countries, but it doesn't hurt to give them a call if you suspect that they might cancel the order.

Yes, but you're from Canada. Visa knows you're aware of other countries. They look at me, though, and say, "Wait. He's American. How would he know about France?"

When I ordered my jar of Martin de Candre quite some time ago my bank did the same thing. All it took was a quick call to the bank to sort things out and I was good to go.

Yes.

Depends on your card issuer and your purchase history. I didn't. That said, it wouldn't hurt.

Visa or your card issuer?
