Opinion: Mike's natural or Mama Bear soaps?

I want to purchase one/some of these. If you like both feel free to let me know as they both may be wonderful soaps. I just wanted advice from people that have tried/use these and what scents they enjoyed!

Not even close.

Mike's by a landslide. All of his scents are done really well so pick a few that sound interesting to you and give them a shot.

You're comparing apples and oranges: Mike makes a hot process artisan soap and Sue makes a glycerin melt & pour shaving soap. Mama Bear will have more fragrance choices and Mike's are more "natural", so it depends what you prefer.

They are different soaps. I can't use lanolin, and don't like tallow in my soap, so Mike's doesn't work for me. I've never had a bad shave from Mama Bear soaps yet.

I love Mama Bear - I can work a lather about as good as Mike's with some practice. Tons of scent options, but I consider tallow soaps to be an entirely different category than glycerin soaps, so I try not to compare the two. Both deserve a spot in your rotation.

I haven't tried Mama Bear's but I can unreservedly recommend Mike's. I have the Hungarian Lavender and the Pine&Cedar - both smell so good that even after carping and whining for weeks in the other threads about waiting for MdC to release their Fougere scent I couldn't pull the trigger because I was so satisfied with Mike's.

Never tried Mama Bear's but Mike's is amazing. It all depends whether you want a tallow or glycerin based soap. I have heard people say they have gotten irritation from Mama Bear's.

Can't agree with the landslide comments. Mama Bears makes good soap and so does Mike's. I would suggest getting some samples and finding out what you enjoy. I like Mama Bears Bacon a lot for Mike's Peppermint and Rosemary and Hungarian Lavender are great as well. At the end of the day you'll be supporting great small American companies which is nice as well.

Have to agree with the suggestion of getting samples for both. Both are very good soaps in their own ranks, but different enough to appeal to different tastes. I would also suggest to get samples of their respective unscented versions. Just in case you run into trouble. That way you can find out if the soap in general causes problems or just a certain scent ingredient.

Sorry to all the MB fans but I can't stand her soaps. The lather is slick but not very protective and the fragrances burn my face like napalm!!

Mike's on the other hand is the second best soap (after MWF) out of the ~35 soaps I have used.

Mikes!
I use his Barber Shop and Bay Rum I couldn't ask for any better. Loads of lather, PLUS the whole fam is now using the shampoo bar and bath soaps. The shampoo bar is the best shampoo we have ever used and has totally eliminated my itchy scalp from using liquid stuff with SLS. If you order shaving soap, go ahead and try his other products - you won't be disappointed.

I have only used one of each. The Mama Bears Vanilla Sandalwood cause a burning sensation when used, but lathered up ok and left my face a bit on the dry side. Mike's Barbershop is a little tougher to lather, but left my face feeling great and I felt the lather was a touch superior in performance. The scent of MB was stronger and she offers more variety, but I will stick with Mike's of the two.

Well, as others have said, you're comparing apples to oranges. I have tried only one from both and have to say I prefer Mike's. That's not to say mb has bad soaps, just prefer the tallow based soaps.
