One WTG pass

How many SR shavers simply make one WTG pass? I am finding trying to go ATG is not working, but getting a DFS shave with one WTG pass. I'm actually finishing with one ATG DE pass to get close to a BBS shave.

Why not do an XTG pass? Not that there's anything wrong with doing a single WTG if that's what works for you; but I'm not sure why you feel the need to stick with WTG if you can't do ATG. I can't shave ATG either because I get in-grown hairs (yes, even with a straight) so I stick to two passes, one WTG and the second XTG and then a touch-up. This gets me a consistent near BBS shave without all the irritation that comes with an ATG pass. But as I already said, you should do what works for you. There's nothing wrong with a single WTG pass if it gets you good results.

I do only one WTG pass as well. If I do ATG I get ingrown hairs and the whole point of starting to straight shave was to stop getting ingrown hairs. I have my technique and skin stretching down well enough that I can get a very close shave in one pass.

Like Dusty mentioned, good stretching technique can result in a really close shave. Add in good lather and a wicked edge and you are in shave Nirvana.

I am a sucker for BBS so I add in an XTG and ATG most of the time. However after the WTG it already looks good to go.

If I do all three passes I look/feel great that day, and guaranteed to look like a pimple faced teenager the next :sneaky2:
However, I was in a rush the last time I shaved and with just one WTG pass I wanted to shave again within the hour. Usually I just do wtg, xtg, then sometimes atg only on the sideburns/corner of my jaw, that's where the hair is roughest for me, but almost never gets irritated no matter how many passes

The way the grain of my beard grows, I basically do one wtg/xtg pass and I'm good to go. I started getting great shaves when I stopped chasing BBS.

I feel the same way. I think BBS gets thrown around way too often, the goal should be a better more enjoyable shave. Not everyone has the right skin/facial hair type to be able to achieve BBS and not pay the price the next day. I stopped using carts because my neck would get so many ingrown hairs. A DE did a much better job, but when I started using a straight they basically went away (except for when I get choked with my collar at jiu-jitsu, then I get some) and that to me is good enough. One pass with a straight everyday gives me the enjoyment and results I was looking for when I first started, it just took me two years to realize that BBS isn't in that equation.

Agreed, though I will work on a BBS if the shave is going right and I have time.

Generally I stick to 2 WTG, could probably get away with one now as I tend to miss less and less. The problem area is always the point of my chin. Top lip can be a bother but I tend to do a hybrid stroke there, ATG and WTG. The only ATG I do regularly is my bottom lip. I get a great shave that doesn't take too much time and let's me enjoy the same shave again the next day.
