What's new

One less Williams user

Sorry! One more Williams thread. I posted a couple weeks ago about 2 older guys who love their Williams. I gave them both a stick of Arko to try. One guy is asking where he can get more! I don't think the other guy tried it yet, and he had 2 days worth of growth when I saw him yesterday. I think he, too, will be excited to have a cheaper more effective soap to use!

ARKO is good stuff. Makes for an excellent soap to add to the rotation!

Did they say they were going to quit Williams completely?

Glad to see your friends have been "enlightened".:lol:

BigFoot

I wanna be sedated!
It stinks, but really the shave is not that bad. It makes a nice lather, lubricates decent, its cheap. Yes I have shaved with it and I am still alive.

Don't worry Wendy, I will still order soap from you.

I told him I would bring him a few more sticks. After that, he's on his own!
I honestly thought the stick was headed for the trash as I saw it on the kitchen counter when I left before Christmas. Glad he gave it a try. He is not the kind of guy who'll ever buy a more expensive soap. He was upset when his wife gifted him a stack of Vermont Country Store soaps several years ago. He admitted that they lathered well, but he just didn't want that much money spent on shaving soaps (I think it is 3 soaps for $10 now - only $3 or so a puck.). The Arko price is right!

Would like to try it, to see how bad it really is. Havent seen it in the UK though.

How does it behave if your pour boiling water on it to soften it and tear into it with a stiff boar brush?

Williams, but I havent tried Arko either.

Williams lathers fine for me with some warm water and a C&E Best Badger Brush. The lather is slick despite being thinner and more foamy than almost all other soaps out there. I have found a couple to perform similarly (Lightfoot's Pine and Classic Shaving Pine come to mind), but Williams is definitely near the bottom of the shaving soap ladder.

Erasmic with the new formula is at the bottom of the shaving soap lather. I shaved with Williams yesterday. Built a great lather using my Omega 81052 banded boar. But Williams being what it is, the lather began breaking down on my face after I applied it. I had made the lather in a bowl and it was breaking down to. I had to go back to the puck for my 2nd pass and touch up.

i mashed together a puck of Williams with a stick of Arko and get some of the best darn shaves. i have to be careful not to get my hand in the rinse water..talk about slick.
