Omega boar knot bucket removable?

I've read some great restore threads on here and am wondering if the black plastic bucket on the Omega knots (either bought from TGN or cannibalized from an existing Omega brush) can be removed.

I am imagining using zip ties to bind the knot together and then to use the Dremel to carefully thin and break the plastic bucket. This would give me the ability to loft the brush a bit lower and to avoid having the bucket line showing above the handle.

In a similar vein, I have seen several different lofts listed on vendor pages for the 22mm and 27mm Omega knots...does anyone know if these are simply manufacture inconsistencies or intended to differentiate the brushes? Asking this to understand how much variation I should expect if I buy a complete Omega brush to use its knot.

Thank you for the help, fine members.

The length of loft is more to do with how the brush feels to the face and how the brush maker tunes the knots to the handle. My Custom with the Pro49 knot feels soft and large to the face. My smaller Custom with the Omega knot is better for face lathering.

The answer to removing the bucket, is yes you can. In the thread below is what you are wanting to do.

I would however avoid tearing a brush apart if an equivalent knot is available. At the time I made this one, I had a new brush that was gathering dust so to speak because I did not like the handle. My preference is to go with less work and not cut one apart.

Gary, thank you very much for the input. Was the actual removal of the bucket itself difficult or problematic?

I'm not sure I understand: is the listed variation of Omega knot lofts for the same brush or similar brushes simply due to manufacture inconsistency? For example, I've seen Omega 10810 lofts listed between 49mm (one owner's actual measurement) to 50mm - 55mm on different vendor's sites.
