What's new

Old Razor ID

I'm new to collecting antique razors and wanted to ask the opinion of those more knowledgeable than myself-is this razor a New Improved Criterion? Or are "Criterions" only the gold plated versions? I bought this today at a local antique mall, because it looked almost in pristine condition. In fact, it's so pretty, I'm not sure I want to shave with it or not. It has a very small gouge in the head and one of the teeth is bent slightly, but as you can see in the photo, it otherwise appears NOS.

Thanks for any info.

Criterion is a New Deluxe head, not New Improved.
Yours is New Deluxe.

The Criterion came in gold and chromium.
Sure looks like a Criterion to me.

That sure is a beautiful razor..:thumbup1:

Thank you, I agree. I'm afraid I'm a user (but not totally sold on this whole DE thing) and not a collector, so I think I'm going to try to find this baby a home with someone that will appreciate her far more than I can. From 1 foot or more away, this razor looks absolutely brand new.

Another interesting thing, is I can find NO patent numbers or any other identification marks such as date codes, other than "Gillette" and "Made in USA".
