Old Badger Brush: clean and use, or restore?

Greetings, all. I have recently become a convert to wetshaving and while I have amassed quite an arsenal of vintage razors I have been using the cheap drug store brushes. A few days ago in an antique shop I picked up two old badger brushes and a cool Bakelite brush stand. The brushes seem to be in good shape with plenty of life left in them but I have seen no discussions on here about cleaning and using previously used brushes.

Is there a trustworthy process to clean them for use or should I just lather up and go for it? I already soaked them in soapy water and washed them with dish detergent.

Thoughts?
