What's new

Ok, I'm cranky!

So i won a bid on eBay. Knew the scales were shot, no big deal, intended to replace them anyway. BUT!!! there was a crack in the edge! How did I not see it? OH and what a pretty one it was...

It is very close to the one I am hunting for, a full 17/16" To grind it out, it would loose 1/8" What are your thoughts?

There's not much choice is there? :(

I recently had the same thing happen to me, however it was on a cheap 5/8 razor and I still felt bummed, so I can't imagine how you feel! Sorry for your loss!

It happens sometimes when bad lighting shows up on a razor... I do see what looks a chip but zooming in looks like a crack.. I would send it back.. It's not worth losing all that original steel.. IMHO

I would certainly check into the sellers return policy and see about returning it, or at least getting a partial refund. You may be able to get some satisfaction thru ebays buyer protection...

Damn shame though.....

Ouch.

If it was mine - I'd ask to return it.
I wouldn't want to take 1/8" off the bottom of an engraved blade.

I specifically asked that seller if it was a crack and they said no it was a scratch. I knew it was cracked. I have it in my messages if you need help with a claim against the seller Bear.

Bear,
We all know this is a grail blade for you. You won't be happy with less than a full measure and grinding 1/8" off ain't a full measure of W&B. Contact the seller, ask to return it or for a substantial refund. Accept Scott's help with proof if needed.

Good luck.

Thank you gentlemen. I have started the process with eBay, I have a few days for the seller to respond before I escalate the claim, then eBay and PayPal go after him. I will accept Scotts help if its needed. Thank you.

So, sitting here scratching my head, I get an email notification from ebay saying my purchase has been shipped... So I check it out... What... Who... Huh??? It looks like I bought this.

No I'm not saying I am upset, considering the one I received cracked, this made me smile a little. I just, for whatever reason, can't recall buying it...

I am looking to get as many of the large W&B's "celebrated" in the different grinds as I can over time. I was off to a good start! Oh, well, this looks solid any way!

Assuming you got it for cheap:

Keep it, grind it, mod it.

Or let me do so!

Not a restoration candidate, so use it for a completely different purposes.

Uh oh....that's trouble when your alter ego subconscious makes Ebay purchases without your knowledge....

Bummers on that blade Bear. I only use kamisori nowadays but that FBU W&B is still on the must have list!

Bear,
You've clearly got your hands full with all the new W&B's floating around your house. This means, in contravention of all the treaties and agreements between our two nations, that the blade pictured below is getting no love:

As a result, and with deep regret, I'm going to have to ask you to surrender this razor to me immediately or you will face a permanent suspension of your hockey and curling rights as well as revocation of your Molson Drinking License.

Drinking Molson is a God given RIGHT in Canada, not a privilege! As such it can never be revoked.

Perhaps a 30 day ban on back bacon, though.
