Ohto Rook mini pen

I wasn't sure if there had been any discussion about this pen, or if anyone was using one, so I thought I would mention it.

This is the Ohto Rook fountain pen. It is a very small, lightweight pen, which, when closed, is about the size of a Fischer bullet space pen. You can see it next to my pinky finger, for scale, in the first picture.

The cap is posted in the second pic, and you can see that it is a full size pen.

I picked this up from JetPens a few days ago. They come in several colors. Admittedly, it is not the best writer you will ever use, but if you are interested in a very small EDC pen, this might be worth a look. Only costs about $17.

I have looked at them a few times but I just could not pull the trigger. Have you seen the pocket Pentels? A few of those are going in the cart on my next JetPens order.

I just received my KawecoSport from Jet Pens, yesterday, and love how smooth it writes, I shared it with a couple of coworker today, and they loved it, too.
I'm gonna buy a couple more and do a PIF, to my coworkers.
$23.00 for a very nice pen.
regards,
Bil

very cool looking, wish it were a better writer. When right handed people tell me that a pen is just an "okay" writer, then I know it won't do well with my left handed death grip, lol. I do like the look and size of it though.

Nice, I'm not sure why Ohto isn't really talked about much around here. My girlfriend has an ohto tasche thats pretty nice for the price if your looking for a mini type pen also.

I think the main problem with it is the cartridges. The ink is a bit pale and feathery. They are usable, just not great. I have no idea if anything else will fit these.

Got one of the Rooks from JetPens. I had to do some amateurish but successful spreading of the tines to get decent ink flow. Now it writes fairly well, but with short cartridges as the only real ink option, it won't see a lot of use. Not really enough room inside to make one of the homemade squeeze fillers discussed here in the past. Not suitable for eyedropper filling. You can refill the cartridges, of course.

Pluses, I do like the just big enough to write with posted size, it's not bad looking (I got it in green), and mine did end up as an acceptable writer after tweaking.

ahh yea, now that you mention it, I don't think there are any converters for it either. And the only options for ink cartridges that fit were lacking. I think my gf was using the syringe method of refilling the carts with ink from my ink stash.

I actually gave away my Ohto F-Spirit today, I didn't want to but I needed to exchange a gift with a colleague visiting from China. I really liked the F-Spirit the week or so I had it. It laid down a surprisingly smooth line wet line, I wonder if I just got lucky, I'm going to order another one from Jetpens. I like the weight of the pen as well, some sort of metal but not too heavy. For $15 you get a pretty nice pen.

For a cheap small FP you might want to check out a Pilot petit 1, I bought one with the Ohto and it's not bad for $3.
