!st hone, chosera 1k, ohira did 2 mejiro slurries, then onto nakayama koppa. the ohira has some good cutting power as you can feel it cutting. The mejiro raised more ohira slurry than mejiro imo. Did 4 tomo slurries with the koppa, test shave, excellent although yesterdays shave off the nakayama asagi mizu was a little smoother. Next stop is ohira, to asagi mizu.
I experimented today with my nakayama asagi mizu. Took the side of the ohira (stone not the skin) and made a little slurry, didn't break down quickly at all which is what I usually have with my stone. So I raised some with the atoma 1200 which I haven't done since I started with this stone and the slurry broke really fast. I guess my 2 tomos are not a good match for this stone. I have what looks like a piece of ozuku asagi tomo (looks just like my ozuku asagi anyway) and a tsushima tomo. I have tried my kouzaki and shuobodani as well and the only slurry that breaks fast is the base stone slurry. I really liked the edge I got off of it and could definitely live with it! Better than what I got so far out of the nakayama koppa I just got. The shave was superb though. It keeps getting better. ANd I though I had this stone down a month ago.
