Ogallala Bay Rum Stick-excellent stuff

I don't have much more to say than the title. I bought a stick of Ogallala BR on a lark and got an incredibly rich and slick lather. Shave was excellent as well or I would not be posting this (Yellow Gillette 7 O'c in Merkur 11C). I intentionally rubbed more on my face than I normally do just to give the soap a real fighting chance and it did not disappoint at all. My Duke 2 had enough slick creamy lather for my second pass, and probably 2 more passes had I so desired. At about $5 a pop, this should be given some consideration when your ADs act up. Now I'm curious about how the other flavors perform but I have other stuff I haven't used yet.

Thanks for the write-up Teddy. I recently purchased a sampler of their Bay Rum AS (5 different flavours) and am enamoured of their after shaves which has piqued my curiosity to their shaving soaps/sticks. Your words are leaning me to towards a purchase...

For the last 28 shaves I've been using a puck of Ogallala Bay Rum soap and have to say that I would be perfectly happy with Ogallala as my only soap. That's saying a lot since my other soaps include the 5 DRH, GFT Rose, Tabac, La Toja Manantiales and Cella. I do have to lather the Ogallala with a drier brush than other soaps and use more painting strokes than circular, but the shaves have been as good or better than any of my other top soaps. 1 or 2 more shaves and Ogallala will officially become the first soap I ever finished.

I have the orange/BR flavor puck. Very pleased with the lather and the scent is very nice indeed. I think I paid $4.50 for a rather large puck.

Congratulations. How long have you been using it?

I began using it in late November, shaving every other day. I wasn't a big fan of glycerin soaps in the past and expected to use it a couple of times, then toss it. The initial shaves were so good, I decided to continue using it. It looks like I'll get about 30 shaves from the puck, but I waste a lot of soap by overloading my brushes and by filling the Ogallala mug with hot water and soaking the brush on top of the soap.
