Odd contrast to TOBS Sandalwood

Lately I have been trying and failing to get a decent lather with TOBS Sandalwood. It always ends up so light and bubbly when I put it to my face it evaporates by the time I've picked up my razor. Too much water right? So i did a trial lather where I barely wet the soap ahead of soaking the brush (Vulifix boar) and then squeezed it out well before scrubbing it hard into the puck. Same result!

Here's the odd thing though. I can quite easily get a good lather with the cheap Wilkinson Sword soap I picked up at the supermarket using the same method. In fact it doesn't seem to matter how much water So what on earth am I doing wrong that an upmarket soap doesn't work so well and a really cheap soap works fine?

You could also let a few drops of hot water sit on the puck for a minute or two. That will allows you to load your brush faster on a hard soap.

Start up with a slightly damp brush, a good amount of soap and go from there, add water as needed once you start making the lather til you get to t he desired consistency.

With my puck of TOBS Sandalwood, I let it soak in water for a few minutes and then pour the soapy water into my bowl. I squeeze most of the water out of the brush and then load it up as much as possible. That said, I've found the soap to be a little subpar when it comes to lather in general.

I use a badger but it should be the same. I load for 45-60 seconds with my brush well shaken out then face later adding water as needed and get very nice lather
