Objects may be smaller than they appear?

Anyone else find that razors look WAY bigger when you're looking at them on the internet? I just got my Futur in the mail, and first thing I thought was "Whoa! This thing is way smaller than I thought it would be". I know they have the dimensions and such on the websites, but is anyone else surprised by just how small these razors are in real life?

 I remember the first time I set eyes on my very first DE razor--a Gillette flare-tip Superspeed--and thought "Dang! That thing's TINY!" I was so used to my Mach 3 with that long handle, you see. My mileage did, indeed, vary!!

However, as we all know (or at least ought to:001_tt2:) size doesn't matter. That Superspeed gave me a great shave. One advantage to a shorter handle, especially for those just starting out, is that it makes it more difficult to put HUGE amounts of pressure on your face.:thumbup1:

+1, Couldn't have said it any better.

Yeah, I recently got a cased aristocrat, and was really shocked when I opened up the parcel to find this tiny little case and razor inside.

I bought one of they boudoir razors a while back thinking it was a standard size de for women. Total misconception of size haha :) was tiny.

Futur tiny? I do know what you mean though. I bought this and thought how tiny it was. From the pick i "thought" it would at least be a foot long.

Yeah, but that may be because I was remembering how my father's Gillette looked in my 5 yr-old hand. They seem to have shrunk a bit over the intervening 50 years.

Yeah, I've run into that. When I bought my first vintage razors, I was really surprised at how small they were. I'd never seen them in person; the only razors I had first-hand experience with were my Mach 3 and ProGlide. At the same time, I was also impressed by the weight difference. Smaller and heavier. I still picture new razors as being "normal" size, but I'm sure they're not.

Actually, I had the opposite response when I opened my Future. It was more like: "CRAP, How am I s'posed to get this under my nose?"

I Thought my first razor was Small too, And I Was Equally Surprised a Few weeks ago When I Received my Travel Tech.
Can you Say Tiny?

Nothing compares to when you open the regular sized case for a Wee Scot having never seen the small Semogue or vintage Gillette's. My whole family couldn't stop laughing for over an hour.

Just got a cased Travel Tech as well and was in the bathroom going "WOW!" and my wife walks in and says "Awwwwwwwwwe, that's cute"

What?! Maybe if you have no experience DE shaving. When my Futur arrived, I'd already been DE shaving 14 weeks, and had seen a number of DE razors in person. The Futur is among the largest, heaviest DE razors on the market -- and was even more impressive the first time I held it and used it. I still like it's heft. That's one of the reasons I got a Sabi T1 -- primarily for that jbig, fat, long, heavy Bulldog-inspired handle. Neither was that in any way underwhelming.

The Futur a Small Razor? Its a Huge Razor when compaired to a Small Plastic Gillette Fusion :eek:/

I'm not sure what Futur your talking about but the one i had was Huge compared to Most Older Gillettes or Modern Gillette's.

Just sit it near a Darwin Bijou, that'll fix it. :a20:
