NOS Old Spice Soap and Mug How much is it worth?

I ran across a boxed, brand new Old Spice mug and soap set at my local antique shop today for $8.00. Is that a fair deal? It's been there for a few weeks so I thought I'd ask here before picking it up. I'm a total newbie, with my only experience being VDH and Col Conks, both really cheap soaps.

As for the mug, it has the cool old school "I'm on a boat, the man your man could smell like" vibe, but I kinda like my "Black Dog" mug, so it would really only be for the unused soap puck.

They also had what looked to be a mint cased tiny little Gem single edge for $20.

I'd say that you practically stole it. Old spice soap can go for quite a few dollars on the 'bay, and old spice mugs rule. :thumbup1:

buy it!

these go for substantially more on ebay - and old OS gives a marvelous shave. And, of course, every shave den needs an OS mug, preferably with the OS soap.

Hmmm, getting phone book, looking for dealers in Grafton, calling wife to tell her I'll be late tonight ..........

Seriously, These go for $30 on Ebay, lately even more as too many B&B'ers are in bidding wars on them. It sounds like this set is in nice shape too. Buy it and use it; the Old Spice soap performance is legendary. Tell us if the soap still has scent.

On my way out to pick it up now...if someone hasn't beat me to it now that I outed it :). Now I have to decide it I want to shave with it or profit from it. Since I started this DE business, I've probably spent about $40...this could come close to breaking me even. 'Course, I've never been know to be that practical.

Ha ha. I don't twit either, but my iphone is my mistress!

So I went back for the soap, and the lady asked, "Did you see the razors?" Thinking she meant the Gems I'd seen earlier, I indicated that I wasn't interested. "No", she said, "Those" and pointed to the countertop where she'd been pricing new stuff. There were two old gilettes and another old single edge. "5 bucks each" she said. So i have a new old gilette with a ball end handle and a thick combed head. Not sure what it is, but is is gold and very shiny. I'll post pics later.

I sold a NOS soap for $30 a couple months ago. They seem to go $25-40 depending on the stars alignment. The mug adds another $5-10.

Shave with it.

I think you should shave with it....I seriously doubt you would consider selling after a shave or two...Superior soap....and that is a bargain.

+2

Even partially used pucks still bring good coin. You could use it for a week or two, and still sell it you are not 100% in love with it. :tongue_sm

+3, especially if it still has scent. It used to be in half of America's medicine cabinets (with Williams in the other half). It should be in yours, too.
