NOS Gillette Tech

My birth year (X = 1952), NOS Gillette Tech X3 arrived today! It's in absolutely new, unused condition and the box is mint too! I'm looking forward to taking it for a spin tomorrow! :001_smile

Looks wonderful. You know, that bakelite handle actually is not bad at all. I love that perfect surface of the cap with the logo. Enjoy! I have a NOS tech as well. Y4.
Ah! NE Pennsylvania! Missed it badly...

Now you have me thinking. I'll have to give the bakelite handle a go tomorrow. Yes, I live in the Hazleton area (about 25 miles due south of Wilkes-Barre). I moved up here 15 years ago from the Atlantic City, NJ area where I was born and raised and lived most of my life. Except for the rough winters, I really love it here in NEPA!

Beautiful razor. I hope you get as good a shave with it as the Techs give me. My two oldest sons have experimented with my DE razors, and both prefer a Tech to anything else they've tried.

Well, I loaded the 1952 Tech with a Gillette 7 o'clock Super Stainless blade (about the sharpest blade I like to use) and shaved with it this morning. I was pleasantly surprised! I was expecting a super tame razor that was going to be way too mild for me, but I discovered otherwise. Yes, this is a mild razor, but not as mild as the Flair Tip or Red Tip Super Speeds I've owned. I'd say the Tech is one step more aggressive than the Super Speeds which, btw, I no longer use because they're just too mild for me. The Tech is mild enough that you have to be precise with your shaving angle to accomplish anything, yet still capable of biting you if you disrespect it. I did my normal 3 pass shave + clean up with it and got, not a BBS shave, but certainly a perfectly acceptable DGS.

While my Edwin Jagger DE89L will remain my everyday razor, this Tech is my new "I'm running late and in a hurry razor." I like it! :biggrin1:

I took my time this morning and, using the once-used Gillette 7 o'clock Super Stainless blade from yesterday, I got a fabulous BBS shave! This razor is going into my regular rotation! I really like it!
