NOS 1949 Super-Speed Razor Sets in Original Rack

I had the good fortune to win a Super-Speed razor set complete with its display rack where all the razor sets are absolutely mint / NOS and the rack is in excellent condition too! It's incredible that something like this survived in such a good condition for 64 years and I'm very, very happy to add these Super-Speed sets and the rack to my collection. There are two other such Super-Speed sets with rack that I know of, the first one from Achim and the second one from a fellow B&B'er Jonnyfive. Both of those nice sets are dated 1950 and mine is from 1949, the first year Gillette transitioned Super-Speeds packaging from cardboard boxes to plastic travel cases. On to the pictures!

The complete set; five NOS 1949 super-speed razor sets in the rack:

All five super-speed sets with their case opened. You can see that the blade dispensers are still in the original cellophane wrapping:

I think this rack would have originally had six Super-Speed razor sets as seen in Jonnyfive's set, but I'm not sure. Quirks in this set are that there is minor clouding on the clear plastic lid in a couple of sets, and in the instruction sheet in one set, there is a slight tear on the part that protrudes out of the case. But I'm not worried about these quirks as this is a very rare set!

It certainly cost me an arm and a leg to win this and get it shipped to Singapore, but it's been totally worth it. Last but not the least, thanks to my good friend and fellow B&B'er Alex who spent his time & efforts to receive this set on my behalf, inspect it, pack it well and then ship it again to my Singapore address (original seller refused to ship outside US). Thanks buddy!

What a great find! Racks are super rare to come by. I couldn't have them as I'd feel the need to part them out to other collectors, which I did and have no regrets. They arenall in a good home:) I too won a rack of NOS Hydro-Magic blades. Pretty cool Kinge!

Thank you all for your posts!

rxonmymind, I'm not sure I followed your post. Are you the seller of this set?

As a collector the hardest things to find are full (or nearly full) store displays. After the items were sold the display was usually relegated to the back room then eventually out the door.

Great find on a wonderful condition store display with merchandise

Sorry Kinge I haven't had my coffee yet so my brain isn't on all cylinders. A while back I won a rack of nos Hydro-Magic cardboard rack of razors & blades. I debated having this set for myself for about two days when I decided to part them all to good homes.

That's just me. Now, finding yours would be for me a keeper IF you are a collector of nos items or near it. I'm pretty sure I couldn't part yours out. Now if you'll excuse me my coffee arrived:drool:

What a neat find. I'm not a collecter of that magnatude yet, I'm really looking for razors that I can shave with. But if I were a collector, that would be a great piece to find. I imagine there are very few of those left in the entire United States (and maybe a few in Canada). Most are probably sitting in a box or on a bottom shelf somewhere burried by other unwanted items in smaller shops. Any major retailers have long since cleaned that type of junk out of their stock rooms.

What a neat piece of history to have. Congrats.
