Hello gents I am curious about this. Having owned a DO1 shavemac for a couple months now and the hair tips are splitting, is this normal?

Not sure about badger, but for boar yes.
If you do a search for 'barbed tips' I think I remember some talk about this.
As mentioned above, it is desirable in a boar brush, but unusual in a badger brush. It makes boars much softer, not sure about badgers...
From some of my recent readings, it seems to be favorable for a brush to have split ends to a certain extent, apparently makes the tips softer, and is one of the things that identifies a well broken in brush... I'm new to the badger thing so I could be wrong but it makes sense
