Norelco SensoTouch 3D (1280XCC)

I know on these boards merely the mention of using an electric razor is frowned upon, but I was looking for some info on this particular model. Amazon has tons of reviews from buyers. But to be quite honest, I trust and respect the opinion of my B&B brethren substantially more. So, with that said, anyone have any impartial thoughts or firsthand information on this product? It's very appealing, and at the risk of sounding lovestruck, quite the sexy machine. But does the performance live up to it's good looks? That's what I wanna know. Thanks in advance.

While committed to DE (with all the RADS that go with it), I keep a Norelco around for when I need a quick knock down shave, when I travel and special circumstances. I haven't used this particular one, but the one I have, a 8140XL, gets me there when pressed for time at about half the price of this model. The techniques you learn when going the DE route apply here as well. The difference is that you feel your beard growing back about 4 hours after your're done. Good luck.

I use my Norelco when in a rush..2x a year..its not a fancy shaver..model 7310...less than $40...as far as "3D" marketing..I had many years ago the Arc before the one you mentioned...seems like some shavers do a better job at the cheeks than neck area and visa versa
.

Any of the older Norelcos work just as well, unfortunately. Most of this is marketing. You will find many other cheaper models with the same cutting heads that will perform just as well.
If you like it and have the money, then do what pleases you. Good luck.

I owned this razor, and broke it while on vacation. My fault, not the razor's.

Decided to go exclusively wet shaving rather than buy a new head for $50.

I liked using it, but I _love_ wet shaving. It was the best electric I ever owned out of 3 rotary and one foil.

I have the model below this one and at first I was very pleased with it. I use it with a wet shave lather and it does a marginally acceptable job. The problem for me is that I have to go over the same area way too many times to get all the hair- it's actually faster to just do a regular 3 pass wet shave. After about 4 months of using it, I put it in a bag and put it in the basement.
