No Fragrance Policy

Recently my place of employment unleashed a pretty heavy handed fragrance ban that included aftershaves.

This policy is strictly enforced with staff, but is dealt with more laxly with students.
Which is a bit of a pity because the cloud of Axe that wafts down the hallway can be akin
to a teargas attack.

Anyway I'm willing to play nice and follow the new rule, but wondered what suggestions you all had for
an aftershave option that would honor the Fragrance Ban here at work.

I've been very conservatively applying Old Spice classic each morning following a nice shave.

I would go with something like Nivea balm. It smells great when I put it on but has no more smell than deodorant by the time I get to work. I assume deodorant is OK, LOL.

I understand the policy, though and wish my work had one. I am very sensitive to heavy colognes (and strong after shaves as well, somebody wearing a lot of Old Spice would irritate me). There is a guy at work who bathes in obsession and often gives me a roaring headache. One day I told him, "You know where it says '4 ounces' on the cologne bottle? That's not the reccomended dose." He was not nearly as amused as everyone else.

If it's really super strict, you may be best off just using unscented Witch Hazel. If you can fudge a little you may be able to use something light, citrusy, and goes away quickly like 4711.

I've heard that Dominica Bay Rum doesn't last long at all (<15 minutes) but have not used it myself. Sounds like something that would be unable to be smelled between the time you shave and step into the office.

If you'd rather keep using your proper aftershaves, one "out of the box" option might be to just shave at night instead. Then use a non/light-scented balm or moisturizer in the morning.

Speick Feels great on the face has a light citrus scent that will be gone before you get to the office.

I would go with Lucky Tiger. It has a nice citrus fragrance that will disappear by the time you leave the bathroom.

+1 - I've recently acquired some Lucky Tiger AS. The stuff is fantastic. As mentioned, the scent is super light & goes away quickly.

+1000 to the Speick recommendation. Hands down the most effective aftershave I have used and the scent is gone within an hour (more like 5 minutes).

Thank you for all the great suggestions. It looks like I have some new products to
work my way through investigating.

I certainly understand and agree with the intent of the policy, but as so often with office policies the
actual execution is extreme.

Gosh, I hope so. I work in a windowless room in a middle school. If Deodorant gets banned, I'm done for.

If you're looking for Menthol - Osage Rub fades rather quickly.

For me, The Veg fades quickly into the background...
