What's new

No CZ for me

I had mentioned in an earlier thread I was buying a CZ rifle in .22. Well that's not going to happen. Seems most of the rifles in my budget don't come with any iron sights and I had no intentions on putting a scope on one. The only CZ rifle I found with in the budget was a 513 Basic and the reviews on it are so so. I went and checked it out and it didn't seem quite as well made as the others (455 models) they had in stock. I would have liked to get the 455 but it was quite a bit above what I had to spend.

Doing some more research on rimfirecentral I came up with a rifle that had decent iron sights and an adjustable trigger, both of what I wanted. So after more reading I went and put in an order for a Zastava 99. It is reported to be a very accurate rifle also. It will be hear in 7 to 10 days.

If you are not adverse to purchasing an older 22 look for a CZ (BRNO) model 1. They were made in the 1950's and are one of the finest 22 bolt action rifles you can find (unless you have very deep pockets and can justify a Winchester 52).

They are not "pretty" and come in a very plain jane beechwood stock but they are very well made.

You will need to do some digging but I can tell you for a certainty that you will NOT be disappointed with one. :001_smile

I looked for two weeks in the shops around here and armslist for a used CZ, none to be found. Like I wrote above, I already ordered a rifle I just waiting for it to come in.

I missed the "I bought this what do you think" part and thought you were after suggestions.

I need to read faster and answer slower :001_smile

Glad to hear that you are getting a rifle....Keep your eyes open as I believe prices will come down later this year as a lot of people rushed to buy that really do not care to pursue the sport...just before this latest frenzy I bought a CZ 452 Trainer in fine shape for 200.00 shipped to my FFL. The real issue going forward is being able to procure sufficent ammuntion to practice and become proficient with your rifle , no matter the make.

I'll still pursue a CZ when the time is right. Sure did like the ones I held.

Good attitude...I hope you have a great experience with your Zastava...keep us posted, as we all like to hear about these things..

Picked up the Zastava MP22 tonight. Here are a few pics, hope to get out and get it a try shortly.

Rick, that is a fine looking rifle...I particularly think the grain is nice....looking forward to hearing how it shoots...I have found my .22 rifles all shoot differently with varying types of ammunition. Congratulations on your new rifle!

Looks nice Wid. I have a CZ in 17 hmr, great rifle. Hard to find CZ's with iron sights, as you've already noticed.

Let us know how it shoots, and what you feed it.
