What's new

No brainer for the vets....

I've been DE shaving for several months. Typically, I'd apply whatever soap or cream I'd chosen for that shave and never reapply any lather or cream for touchups or additional passes. This morning I decided to keep the brush, loaded with Trumper's Coconut soap lather, on the sink's edge for any additional pass over an area. I guess I've really been underestimating the value of all that cream I've been washing out of my brush and down the drain before starting with the razor. The additional passes were irritation free with the reapplication of lather. Obviously, there was irritation before, when I wasn't reapplying, but I attributed it to dragging a sharp blade across my face repeatedly. Again, this is probably a no brainer for the vets, but reapplying lather for touchups is a necessity. Not reapplying cream is a habit left over from my canned goo days.

I re-apply every time... for passes, retouches, whatever. I think that's one of the keys to a irritation free shave. Like you, during the canned goo days, I would never re-apply and ALWAYS got irritation. So much iritation, that I switched too electrics just to survive.

Congrats on your new irritation free shave!

When I read the title I thought you meant veterinarian! Congratulations on the irritation free shave.

Yep, pretty much the same as above. I never reapplied back in to can goo days, but since starting wet shaving I re-lather before each pass, and don't rinse my brush until after I rinse my face after the final pass. Congrats on the irritation free shave!

Not only do I thoroughly reapply lather prior to ALL passes and touch-ups, when I am done shaving I squeeze out the remaining lather from my brush, and/or scoop some out of my mixing bowl, and give my face a gently wash with the remaining lather, then rinse it all off with cold water.

Your face will feel great, and you'll certainly be maximizing the use of your soap/cream. :thumbup1:
