Nice DE for $2 shipped

This razor gets positive reviews from very experienced wet shavers. In fact I'm surprised it doesn't get more airplay. As Michael Ham (author of book on wetshaving) says:
"Certainly there are better razors---the Edwin Jagger DEx series is really excellent and the DE86bl (faux-ebony handle) costs only about $30---but that's more than 10 times what the Sodial costs, so one naturally expects some improvement. But this razor does the job and it's comfortable."

Might try it for a couple of bucks! I've got some amazon credit somewhere.

Be careful. I ordered this exact one and it is terrible. Read through this thread if you want more details.

There is a knock-off version of the MEMEI/Sodial razor going around. China has copied themselves on this one. I ordered from the exact same vendor you linked to and got a junk one. It appears that the vendors themselves often stock and ship both the good ones and the bad ones, depending on which one they have in stock.

I ordered two for my youngest sons who always want to shave with me (4 & 6). Now they will have their own razors and not bang mine around - besides, these are cheaper than buying a toy razor for them.

Ordered one! I figure if I don't care for it, I can throw it together with a puck of Stirling, some Pinaud, a pack or two of blades, and a VDH brush for a great starter kit PIF.

I ordered one, but then got to thinking...I can easily find a Superspeed or Tech in the local antique malls for $4 or $5, and I have several of those already. I had no reason to buy this chinese razor. Oh well.

I ordered one for $2.02 with free shipping. I expect it to suck but figured what the hell for 2 bucks. Will take about a month to get it.

Bought one of these for a good friend and put it in a wet shaving newbie kit for him. He loves it. It does the job. Of course he doesn't have a frame of reference as he hasn't used a higher end razor.

It ships from China though so expect it to take 3-4 weeks

The package with the red lettering is supposed to be the nicer one. I have one with the red lettering and like it, but it's much too mild for me. Of course my main head is the 2013 R41. Either way, ordering these seems to be a roll of the dice.

I got one of these from Amazon UK and it was definitely a good one.
Slightly more aggressive than a Tech and very smooth, but the best thing is the 105mm handle. The end unscrews (allegedly to hold a cigarette) so you can pack it with lead shot and epoxy to make a custom "grande" handle which works really well on a FaTip or, as I'm currently using, on a Gillette NEW :)

lowjax's negative experience, above, is by far the exception. I've bought seven of these razors in the past six months from the same source as the OP's link. The price has dropped from ~$2.40. I got one of the "old" style (hollow handle with end-cap which unscrews) and the new (solid, heavier handle). They're both great: the hollow handle, as mjclark describes, can be filled with whatever you like and epoxied to create a super economical extra heavy handle (because the end cap tends to unscrew, you want to epoxy it one way or the other); and, the newer solid handle is just a nice, heavy, substantial handle, for the price of a cup of coffee (not even Starbucks). They cost a couple of bucks and shave pretty much like a Tech, ie. super mild and comfortable, with perhaps a hair more blade exposure/gap. They're an ideal utility razor for travel, gym, super cost-effective start-up DE shaving kit gifts -- which is what I bought mine for. I keep a few around for ya never know, just give em away like candy to people intrigued by my liberation shave-ology: ditch-cartidge-blade-slavery and franken-goo corporate servitude, and get better, healthier, cheaper shaves. http://i.imgur.com/0Dkk9vZ.jpg

I was not aware of the handle compatibility. Definitely a bonus for this cheap grab!

Ordered a pair. $4.04? The only thing that made me hesitate a little was the exposed blade ends. It'll give me a little surprise when I forget about it and it arrives in 17-28 days! I deserve it after changing my own catalytic converter today.

I have a couple of these. I take one of these, along with the head of a Lord L6, when I go out of town for an extended period of time, and essentially have 2 razors that give great shaves that would not break my heart if they did not make it back home.

in for 1, why not? TY for the heads up, it seems like a lot of people have seen this before but its a first to me

I picked up 5. It will be fun matching it up to a blade for best performance then giving them away to friends etc expressing an interest in giving de safety razor (wet) shaving a go. Heck I recently picked up a lot of 6 razor/brush stands from a vendor on the cheap. Ill try one and if its decent maybe i'll put together a cheap shave set with an omega boar brush along with some homemade soap ive bbeen working on and sell them for cost to people i meet online expressing interest.
